Major UK stove manufacturer prohibited from listing 10 products on the UK market
Following enforcement action by the Office of Product Safety and Standards (OPSS) in August 2024, CVS ENERGY LIMITED t/a Clearview Stoves have been served with Stop Notices, dated 21 October 2024.
This follows the manufacturer failing to ‘take action or respond’ to Compliance Notices they were served with in August 2024 and prevents certain manufactured products from being placed on the market.
10 prohibited products
The following products are listed by the OPSS as having breached regulations:
- Pioneer 400 Stove
- Pioneer 400P Stove
- Solution 400 Stove
- Vision Inset Deep Stove
- Pioneer Oven Stove with Oven & Hotplate
- Vision 500 Stove with Hotplate
- Solution 500 Stove
- Solution 500SB Stove with integrated Boiler
- Clearview 650 Stove with Hotplate
- Clearview 750 Stove with Hotplate
Clearview Stoves are prohibited from placing these products on the market until they have been issued a Completion Certificate by the OPSS.
Regulation 14(1) of Ecodesign for Energy-Related Products Regulations 2010 and Regulation 11(1)(b) of the Energy Information Regulations 2011 are the regulations the OPSS list as having been breached.
Stop Notice
The manufacturer has been served Stop Notices by the OPSS. This prohibits any non-compliant products from being made available on the market until the OPSS is satisfied that the necessary actions have been taken by the manufacturer.
The Stop Notices, which prevent these listed products from being made available on the market, were issued by the OPSS as the manufacturer ‘failed to take action or respond’ to the Compliance Notices they were served in August 2024.

Stay informed
It is imperative that HETAS registrants stay informed of such notices and only recommend compliant products to customers. Regulatory requirements for solid fuel appliances in the UK must be followed and it is important that installers, retailers, and consumers stay aware of any non-compliant appliances.
