Thermal Earth Training Academy (TETA) covers a range of renewables courses for MCS accreditation and installer compliance. The Academy has developed to become a comprehensive HETAS approved training facility running a variety courses.

About Thermal Earth Training

The centre has become fully operational in November 2012 and will ensure that the standards and quality required by HETAS will be trained into Learners.
The portfolio of installer and retailer solid fuel courses are taught by one of the best trainers in the industry, Will Bowen, a recognised expert in the field with a wealth of experience and knowledge. All courses offer blended learning; a mixture of both theory and practical training.

Facilities

Thermal Earth facilities include:

  • Classroom with Wi-Fi access for theory based learning
  • New Practical training area with Rigs for trainees
  • Additional working rigs and integrated systems showing multi-technology renewable heating
  • All attendees will have lunch and beverages provided.

Training Courses

Retailer Course

This course is suitable for retail showroom staff, building surveyors, building control officers & architects.

H002 | Solid Fuel Regulations & Standards

This course is suitable for surveyors, specifiers, building control officers, architects and anyone in the industry who gives advice but does not carry out installations.

H003 & H003DS | Dry Appliance Installer/Defined Scope (DS)

This course is suitable for Candidates with relevant experience in the construction industry, including allied trades such as plumbing and heating installers.

H004 | Wet Appliance Installer

This course is suitable for candidates with plumbing & heating qualifications who have successfully completed the H003 or H003DS.

H005 | Biomass Appliance Installer

This course is suitable for plumbing, heating, oil, gas & building services engineers or any person with a building services background. Also suitable for existing HETAS registrants who wish to attain the skills necessary to install biomass boiler appliances.

H006 | System Chimneys

This course is suitable for candidates who have successfully completed the H003/H003 DS or H005 course. This is a one-day bolt on to the H003/H003 DS or H005 courses and can be taken at the same time or at a later date.

H009 | Service & Maintenance

This course is ideal for businesses with relevant experience who don’t wish to undertake installation work; including stove retailers, chimney sweeps, allied trades (e.g. plumbing/heating installers), maintenance operatives and housing associations.

H009S | Sweeping Module

This course is suitable for operatives who currently carry out sweeping activities, to demonstrate through knowledge and practical assessment, their suitability to join the HETAS Sweep & Service Scheme for sweeping solid fuel appliances.

H011 | Sweeping Course

This course is suitable for candidates wanting to learn how to sweep a chimney, and undertake servicing and maintenance but do not wish to undertake installation work.

Refresher Courses

Available to any person who has previously completed a HETAS course.
